On Gratitude Pt. 1

by gordonfoundation | Sep 27, 2021 | Uncategorized

World Day of Gratitude, September 21, is meant to designate space to acknowledge what we have. If you are reading this blog, you are alive and surviving an unprecedented global pandemic that has claimed more than 4.55 million lives as of this writing. That alone should make us grateful. Our beloved family member David Gordon (RIP), would be in awe of something beautiful or sigh when the day was hard and say, “Thank you Lord for another day.” His gratitude lessons continued with his other motto, ‘tomorrow is not promised’.  Keeping these remembrances in mind makes every day even more radiant — knowing that life is not guaranteed.

“I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke and I saw that life is all service. I served and I saw that service is joy.” – Kahlil Gibran

The Willie & Elizabeth Gordon Family foundation’s mission sprang from gratitude. Our ancestors, Willie and Elizabeth were devoted to honoring God, valuing service and being grateful. To this day, the legacy lives on through generations of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren being responsive to the needs of their communities and being eternally grateful for the ability to respond.

What are you grateful for?
