WEGFF honors the legacy of our ancestors by giving back to disenfranchised communities through education, excellence, empowerment, and service.
Liberated? Redefining Black Freedom for Families
The panel was a such an enlightening discussion! We want to thank Grant Gilliam for his video introduction about Juneteeth, which provided the historical background on the holiday. Panelists, Glodean Champion (@glodeanglo), Melanie Perry (@zeallionaire), and Quentin R. Jiles (@quentinrjiles) spoke from their experience about the meaning of liberation now, responding to Juneteenth being recognized as a federal holiday, and how families can look for and reinforce messages that promote Black wealth and liberation today.
We want to thank them for their keen insights into what families can be mindful of this summer.
If you didn’t have a chance to catch the discussion, it is now available for replay on YouTube.

Back To School
As students return to school, they are often challenged with having the proper tools needed to have a successful start. WEGFF provides backpacks filled with school supplies for students in Los Angeles, Jersey City and Raleigh/Durham. Each location provides a minimum of 50 backpacks through partnerships with other organizations.
“Thanks for Giving”
Annual Scholarship Giveaway
Education was of utmost importance to our ancestors and every generation pushed the next to go further than they had gone. As we look back at our ancestral legacy, we started with little to no education and now the family has produced offspring with Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees. What a tribute to the family legacy to give to others in an effort to enhance educational skills. Whether aspiring for professional or vocational goals, our aim is to support young people in the areas that they most need support. The scholarships are named after the children of Willie and Elizabeth Gordon and are distributed per the discretion of the foundation.
